What we do

Oriental Rug Cleaning

With over 70 years of cleaning experience, Pristine Rugs has earned the trust of most of the tri-state’s Oriental Rug Dealers with their antique and precious rugs.

These experts know that our cleaning methods, fabric-safe cleaning chemicals, first rate equipment and very experienced staff are the best choice for the rugs they sell, and we think you’ll agree.

In addition to the basic deep-cleaning service, we offer several options:

SOAKING

For rugs that are heavily soiled or have pet odor, we offer full immersion soaking pools. Once immersed in the pool, chemicals loosen deeply ingrained dirt, soiling and odors.

DEODORIZING

Rugs can be treated with chemicals that release animal odors and make rugs smell fresh and clean.

MOTH WASH

For rugs damaged by moths, we can apply special chemicals that make a rug’s wool fibers unappealing to hungry moths. We can also repair the damaged portions of your rug (see Repairs & Restoration).

CARPET PROTECTOR

Applying carpet protector allows your rug’s fibers to resist dirt, keeping it looking cleaner for longer.

How does our cleaning process work?

The cleaning process starts with a careful inspection of your rug to determine the material it’s made of and any special cleaning needs it may have. Once that analysis is made the rug is put through a dusting machine to release dirt hidden deep in the nap of the rug.

Then it’s on to the pool. Rugs are immersed in water and detergent (and other chemicals, if necessary) and scrubbed thoroughly with powerful low impact scrubbers.

Following this, the rugs are pressure-sprayed with cold, fresh water then treated with fabric softener. Conveyors bring the rugs to the high pressure wringers which squeeze excess dirt and water from the rugs.

Finally our conveyor lifts the rugs into our thermostatically-controlled, heated dryroom where they stay until completely dry. Later they are wrapped in plastic and ready for delivery.

Repairs & Restoration

Our repair and restoration technicians are magicians with carpet. They have decades of experience and the repairs they can make to damaged and stained rugs will amaze you.

Our Repair and Restoration Group is divided into 3 departments:

  • Machine repairs
  • Handmade repairs
  • Shearing
MACHINE REPAIRS

The machine repair department has 3 main types of repairs: binding, serging, and refringing.

Binding is sewing a polyester or cotton band onto the edges of a rug by machine.

Serging is sewing tightly spaced thread on the edges of the rug. It’s a more elegant finish to the rug and is usually found on more expensive pieces.

Refringing involves sewing pre-fabricated pieces of fringe onto the rugs edge.

HANDMADE REPAIRS

The handmade repair department specializes in repairing damage to expensive and antique rugs where the repair needs to be in keeping with the original quality of the rug. Their repairs include hand-binding, color restoration, stain removal, rug resizing, and reweaving.

SHEARING

The shearing department uses a German-made precision shearing machine to remove a tiny amount of the top edges of a rug’s fibers to remove the portion that has lost its color due to fading. This process revitalizes the colors of the carpet and restores its original brilliance.

Cleaning & Refinishing

If you walk on it or sit on it, we likely clean it!

Whether it’s wall-to-wall carpeting, wood flooring, ceramic tile and grout or VCT, our experts can make it look pristine! Your wood floors need sanding and polishing? Not a problem. The upholstery needs refreshing? We got you covered. The whole house needs dusting and cleaning? We do that too!

Our cleaning technicians use the latest equipment and quality chemicals to ensure that your floors and upholstery look and smell clean. They pay special attention to stains and spots and are trained to know the best solutions and techniques to clean the fabric or material they are working on. Our solutions are pet- and people-friendly. Regular, professional cleaning also helps remove dust, dirt and allergens for people who are sensitive to them.

Do you need more cleaning power than just your floors and upholstery?

Call on us to provide whole-house cleaning. In addition to your floors and upholstery, our team can clean all the rooms of your home. Our team will wipe down all flat surfaces, clean cobwebs and dust, polish furniture and clean lights and other fixtures throughout the home. Your house will look and smell amazing.

If wood flooring is your concern, our wood specialists can assess the condition of your wood flooring and recommend the best level of service for you. Wood floors that are just dirty can simply be cleaned and polished. If the surface coating is scratched but not deeply scored, we can screen the floor’s surface and re-coat it. But if the floor is heavily scratched, discolored or stained, sanding and refinishing is called for. If necessary, we can even remove and replace planks that are heavily damaged prior to sanding and refinishing the floor.

Sales & Installation

When its time to replace your flooring, call on us. We offer shop-at-home service and will bring samples right to you. Whether you need carpet, wood, or luxury vinyl tile we work with all the major flooring manufacturers.

The sales process starts with our expert sales and project managers. They have the experience and knowledge to help you select the best and most cost-efficient solution for your flooring needs. From the first phone conversation they will assess your needs and then schedule a free in-home consultation bringing with them samples that best meet your requirements. You can lay the samples up against walls and furniture to feel certain your choices will look perfect when installed.

Once your materials have been selected and ordered it’s on to the installation. Our installation crews are very experienced and technically proficient but also courteous and neat. To reduce impact to other areas of the home our crews will tape off the work areas (typical with wood projects). All project debris is removed on the completion of the job and items of the home returned to their correct position. Each project is overseen by the project manager who does a final inspection with the customer to ensure all their concerns have been addressed.
